WHAT IS RADIESSE®?
Radiesse® is an injectable dermal filler that temporarily adds volume to help smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and gives an immediate lifting and firming effect on the skin. Once injected, not only does it immediately add volume but over time, Radiesse® begins to stimulate the production of the body‘s natural collagen for results that may last up to a year or more in many patients.*

HAS RADIESSE® BEEN TESTED AND CERTIFIED?
Radiesse® offers you a convenient way to regain the youthful contours of your face. Through years of clinical studies Radiesse® has been proven to be well tolerated and effective and has demonstrated excellent tolerance. Radiesse® is CE certified as Medical Device in the EU. Radiesse® was also approved by the FDA (the U.S. regulatory authority) in 2006.
RADIESSE® CONSULTATION
Before your treatment, schedule a one-on-one consultation with a Radiesse® provider to determine if you are a candidate for treatment.
DURING AND AFTER THE TREATMENT
Like other treatments with dermal fillers, Radiesse® filler injections will take about 30 minutes to complete and are virtually painless. Radiesse® is hypoallergenic and usually does not require a skin test prior to injection*. The aesthetic results are immediate and you will be able to continue your daily activities as soon as your appointment is over.
* In patients with antecedents or with an active autoimmune disease or in patients presenting a history of several multiple allergies or anaphylactic shock, a skin test is required.
WHAT THE PRACTITIONER DOES
The practitioner will remove any make up and the area to be treated will be cleaned thoroughly.
Depending on your treatment, you may be asked to move the muscles of your face so the practitioner can evaluate your facial expressions and identify the areas to be treated.
The practitioner injects the filler and massages the area around it in order to deploy the product.
After treatment, some injection-related reactions may occur, including redness, swelling and slight bruising. These reactions are completely normal, generally mild to moderate, and usually disappear within a week.
WHAT IS THE TREATMENT PROCEDURE?
Your practitioner will explain the different treatment options available and discuss the best one for you. With the use of a local anesthetic, Radiesse® is gently injected into the skin, usually in small amounts with a very fine needle. One treatment session typically takes approximately 30 minutes. The effect will be visible immediately after injection.
WHAT IF I AM TAKING MEDICATION?
Please inform your practitioner before treatment if you are taking medication, even if it is not a prescription medicine. Taking anticoagulants and painkillers including aspirin and some vitamin supplements can lead to unwanted bruising. Your practitioner will advise you accordingly.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
Most adverse events are injection-site-related and often transient reactions. Prior to treatment, your practitioner will inform you about all possible risks and potential adverse events that are listed in the Instructions for Use (IFU).
After injection, you may experience redness, bruising, swelling or other local side effects. Most side effects of treatment resolve within a few days. Rarer side effect may include more persistent swelling, unevenness or firmness in the area injected, and as with any injection, there may be a risk of infection. Please discuss any concerns you have with your practitioner.
HOW SOON WILL EFFECTS OF RADIESSE® BE VISIBLE?
Generally, the effect will be visible immediately after injection. By stimulating your bodyʼs own natural collagen and elastin, the benefits of Radiesse® will continue over time.
HOW LONG DO THE EFFECTS OF RADIESSE® LAST?
The unique formulation of Radiesse® forms new collagen by neocollagenesis, which results in increased volume that may last a year or more in many patients. Individual results are dependent on age, skin type, lifestyle, metabolism and, of course, the area treated. Radiesse® results are normally particularly durable and can last up to 12 months.1

I AM AFRAID THAT THE TREATMENT MIGHT HURT. WHAT CAN I DO?
With the line extension product, Radiesse® Lidocaine, Merz offers patients a new dermal filler that combines the proven efficacy and safety of Radiesse® with extra comfort. Clinical data show that Radiesse® Lidocaine significantly reduces pain during and throughout the first hour after treatment. The pain reducing effects of Radiesse® Lidocaine can make your aesthetic treatment more pleasant and comfortable.
CAN RADIESSE® BE COMBINED WITH OTHER PRODUCTS?
For a holistic treatment of individual folds and selected areas of the face, it may be advisable to combine Radiesse® with other products. Radiesse® can be safely combined with other products from the Merz Aesthetics portfolio, such as hyaluronic acid (Belotero®). You may want to have your lips contoured or mimic wrinkles treated as well to complement your regained youthful appearance. Ask your practitioner about an individual combination treatment for enhanced and prolonged cosmetic results.
IS THERE ANYONE WHO SHOULD NOT USE RADIESSE®?
Radiesse® should not be used in patients with severe allergies manifested by a history of anaphylaxis, a history or presence of multiple severe allergies or patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components.
CAN RADIESSE® BE FELT UNDER THE SKIN?
You will probably feel Radiesse® for a short time after treatment. Over time, Radiesse® is completely integrated and cannot be felt anymore.
